Solid State is an electronic music project by italian-chilean duo consisting of Davide Luciani and Nico Espinoza.
This project is the result of a sound research developed by Luciani and Espinoza which involved the making of self-build analog and digital instruments.
Luciani uses a custom synth called TH, a four voices/channels square wave oscillator with a flat frequency response from 2 Hz to 8000 KHz. Comprised of 4 independent oscillators it can link voices for in-phase polyphonies or polyrhythms generation. The TH synthesizer has been realised in collaboration with Emanuele Porcinai. Espinoza uses a Max patch called Multi tap transformer. It is a lattice network formed by effect units and a sound interface partially controlled by a max patch that feedback the input signals into parameter modulations and audio signals.
